Mytchett Lake Towpath Improvement(2026)

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our latest project at Mytchett Lake for the Basingstoke Canal Authority.

After many months of planning, coordination and securing the necessary permits, including working closely with Network Rail, the project has now been delivered safely and successfully. Careful preparation was essential to ensure the works could be completed efficiently while protecting the surrounding environment and maintaining access where possible.

The project involved significant improvements to the lakeside pathway, creating a more durable and accessible route for visitors to enjoy. The completed works have transformed sections of the path, providing a clean, stable surface that blends sympathetically with the natural surroundings while enhancing the overall appearance of the area.

A particular challenge was working alongside both the waterway and the adjacent railway infrastructure, requiring detailed planning and close collaboration between all parties involved. Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of everyone on site, the project progressed smoothly from start to finish. I was also fortunate enough to spend some time on site and get involved in the works myself, which made for a welcome change from being in the office. It was great to be back working alongside the team and seeing the project take shape first-hand.

A huge well done to all of our staff and subcontractors who contributed to the project. Their hard work, commitment and attention to detail have delivered an excellent result that will benefit visitors to Mytchett Lake for years to come. We would also like to thank the Basingstoke Canal Authority and Network Rail for their support and cooperation throughout the project.
